Water Lilies: Then & Now

1. Taken with the D40 + kit lens.

Made a mistake of using high ISO, resulting in noisy images.

Close-ups from home

During the last petrol price crisis, I decided to look for interesting subjects closer to home.

There’s a small patch of garden in front of the main entrance of my condominium block.

Nothing much, just a bunch of yellow flowers and some butterflies.

Nature snapshot at Teluk Intan, Perak

1. Close up on a flower found by the roadside.

As I had only rely on natural lighting, I have to settle for a  wider aperture, hence a shallower depth of of field. I boosted the ISO settings too.

Flowers

1. Bougainvillea, also known in Malay as Bunga Kertas (literal translation: Paper Flower).

Shot with Nikon Coolpix 5700 in macro mode. Spotted along the North-South Highway.

I was impressed by the crispiness and sharpness produced in this image. The colours were blinding too.

3. Yellow hibiscus.
